Let’s start the Zenfone 5 hands-on review with specific segments. It is not a full review, subscribe to our channel for complete videos and hands-on things.
This smartphone is the smaller brother of ZenFone 5Z because it is powered by 636 chipsets and 5Z is powered by 845 chipsets. Considering the update from ASUS both phones run on the new software operating system. Furthermore, there is Mi Mix 2, Essential Phone and many more bezel-less android smartphones. Let’s see how ASUS has done with their new ZenFone 5 series smartphones.
ASUS ZENFONE 5 DISPLAY:
It has a 6.2inches with 19:9 aspect ratio display. Yes, LCD panel is there with FHD+ resolution which makes the images and texts look sharper. The front camera, earphone piece and rest of the sensors are there in the notch of bezel less zenfone 5. It is a midrange smartphone yet the price is not revealed. If you use the camera or watch the videos it covers up the letterbox/ rectangular view for better comforts.
The display is vibrant and looks classy. You can change the colour balance from the settings. Also, the maximum brightness is 500nits. We expected an AMOLED with the hardware but it is fine too with this specs.
Zenfone 5 Sound Quality:
The dual speakers are an amazing thing in the add-on. It has even more bass if you compare with old zenfone devices. There is a 3.5mm jack which is a good thing. A USB type-C port with fast charging support. Also a clean finish.
ZenFone 5 Hands-on Review Build & Design:
Now the amazing part is it is totally similar to iPhone X. The camera bump, the design, the speakers and etc. Even though ASUS claims the ZenFone 5 is quite better than the iPhone X. It has the jack and shiny diamond cut back design. It is premium, damm high.
ZenFone 5 Hands-on Review Camera:
Zenfone 5 is bezel-less with an upgraded camera. It sports 12MP, f/1.8 primary and 8MP, f/2.2 as secondary wide angle sensor camera. Asus has added the dual-pixel PDAF technology in the cameras for awesome focus and better lightning.
One important thing is it has an OIS i.e Optical Image stabilization in the main sensor for stable shots. Isn’t this a great package?
Asus has enabled the AI scene in the camera with detections. It can detect food, animals, flowers, trees, humans and stable objects or more. It can tell you the difference between cats, dogs and other animals on the go.
It can tweaks colours in seconds. Zenfone 5 adjusts the focus, exposure, speed and sharpness in a couple of mili-seconds. On the top of this, you will get an extra expected potrait mode which works well too.
ZenFone 5 Performance, Software:
Obviously, if it is a midrange smartphone you cannot expect high or heavy performance but it is powered by a Snapdragon 636 processor with 6GB of RAM and 64GB memory. The same processor of Redmi Note 5 Pro. So, it will compete the Redmi Note 5 Pro in terms of performance. It is powered by a 3300mAh battery for lights.
Plus point on this smartphone is it actually shifts the resources with the help of AI technology and gives you better performance. You can increase the performance a bit if you want to get most out of the 636 processor.
Phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with new ZenUI update. Asus also removed the extra junk from the smartphone for better UI intrections.
ZenFone 5 hands-on Review Initial Thoughts:
Now talking the end of the Zenfone 5 hands-on Review we can say it is a decent phone but yet to test completely. It is quite difficult to tell the price of the smartphone in India because from few launches Asus has chosen bit over pricey segments.
