We thought that Xiaomi might give you quick Android Oreo update so Mi A1. but as per their work, it took so long on the Xiaomi Mi A1. Xiaomi released Android Nougat kernels in end of January and now developers have started the development.
We all were Android 8.1 for Mi A1 but people have started receiving the Android Oreo in Mi A1 just from last 20 days. As it is a part of a/b testing it took long. Mi A1 has a dual lens camera so camera ports might take some more time. The ROM is still not stable and we might see the oreo for Xiaomi Mi A1 with stability soon.
And Now talking of new Android 8.1 Oreo for Xiaomi Mi A1, an XDA Senior Member abhishek987 has released an unofficial build of LineageOS 15.1 (based on Android 8.1 Oreo) for the Xiaomi Mi A1 (the device’s codename is tissot). First official LineageOS 15.1 builds might begin to roll out sooner. Although this 8.1 oreo is a nearly stable version for Mi A1. We can expect a completely stable version in next 2-3 builds of Android Oreo for Mi A1.
Also, the developer has given a list of hardware which works:
- The RIL.
- Fingerprint sensor.
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth.
- Video recording.
- VoLTE, and more.
Bugs that it has right now:
- Double tap to wake.
- Live display.
- You might see more in it.
The instructions to install the unofficial LineageOS 15.1 are a bit complicated because of the device’s A/B partition system:
- Unlock the bootloader of your device.
- Download the latest build and GApps.
- Flash TWRP.
- Reboot to recovery, wipe data and cache. // It will clear everything.
- Flash ROM zip. Go to TWRP reboot options and switch to other slots (for example, if you are on slot_a, then you need to switch to slot_b). Do not reboot.
- Flash TWRP installer.
- Reboot into TWRP recovery.
