Design and Build – Vivobook S15 S510U

The Asus VivoBook S15 S510UN has a premium design with a brushed metal finish. It comes with nano edge display that means less-bezels. These bezels look pretty though. There is an ASUS branding in centre of the lid cover. We liked the finish on this machine, it’s smoother than we thought. The lid is made up of metal rest is made up of hard plastic. The plastic that is quite premium.

How is the Trackpad?

There is a full-sized keyboard with backlit for dark typing. It is quite easier to type for long hours. The keys are just good as mid-ranger, not that heavy tap feel. There is a fingerprint of the trackpad that is just an average addon. The trackpad still feels better than other machines. we liked the trackpad experience while scrolling. The trackpad is quite bigger and easier to use.

It supports standard gestures such as three-fingers scroll up, two-fingers swipes and etc. Tap three times and you will meet Cortana. This is a handy thing, tap four and you will see a notifications panel.

The good thing is we can tweak colours in this machine. Asus has used a splendid technology which helps in tweaking. You can change warmness, coldness as per your requirements. Also, you can enable the yellow tint screen which reduces the eyes strain.

Performance – Vivobook S15 S510U Review

The Asus’s VivoBook S15 S510U is powered by latest Kaby lake i7 8th generation processor. It is smoother and better than previous processors. We got the 16GB RAM variant which did way smoother with heavy applications. We worked with Aftereffects and premiere pro with 4K edits, they worked smoother with seconds. This machine has two drives, 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD is there to save the data.

It boots in 5-10 seconds and you are good to go. While opening Premiere Pro it just took 3 seconds to start to final screen. The operating system is installed in SSD which runs on super smooth speed. Performance is smoother with sharp frames. We were editing on premiere pro with 4K music videos running in background.

As it has a fast charger it just takes one and half hour to go from zero to hundred. As Asus claimed the 8 hours of battery performance. We got around 5.5 hours with medium brightness, Wi-Fi connected, one movie watch and songs in the background with surfing the internet. You can get around 6 hours easily if you are working with the lowest brightness.

With the heaviest usage like playing heavy games, doing work on heavy apps etc this laptop can stay up to 4 hours max to max. We found the battery to be an average performer for this standard beast.

Verdict – Vivobook S15 S510 Review

This machine is a decent performer with the top end specs if you don’t see the GPU. Although it has a mediocre GPU which works smoothly but not the fastest. The overall performance is great. The only lag we foun dis some battery lags else it is a perfect machine.

Asus VivoBook S15 (S510U) Review - Decent MacBook Killer 7

As per our review of Asus VivoBook S15 S510U, we found this laptop is faster and stood at every point. The graphics card is quite a medium ranger but It works totally fine with 16GB RAM and advanced processor. It has modern hardware with backlit keyboard and matte IPS screen.

If you want to buy this go with 8GB version you will get it for around 60,000 INR. Else, you should consider a gaming variant with higher GPU. If you need to work in the office, this is a satisfactory pick with this price. Else there is an option for MacBook Air 2017 with just only 50,000INR but that is still slower than VivoBook S15. That’s all for VivoBook S15 S510U Review.
